ITV to lose GMTV personality Ben Shephard

LONDON - ITV is to lose one its most popular GMTV presenters, Ben Shephard, who is to quit the weekday breakfast sofa at the end of the summer.

The move by Shephard, who has been at GMTV for five years, is not believed to be related to the .

The presenter, who also hosts The Krypton Factor for ITV, is understood to be in discussions with the broadcaster over fronting other programmes.

A shake up on the GMTV sofa has been expected for some time following an ongoing review at GMTV and follows the departure of news reader Penny Smith.

Earlier this week, ITV poached Chiles, BBC One Show's host, in an exclusive four-year deal valued in the region of £1m a year. At ITV, Chiles will front a range of high-profile programming, including ITV's football coverage and, later in the year, take the lead role on 'GMTV'.
