How do you come up with fresh marketing ideas?
Because we are such a big company, just talking to other parts of the business generates plenty of ideas.
What are the perks?
Working with world-class people and the international culture. Also, sponsoring London 2012 is an amazing opportunity.
Describe the marketing team in three words.
Passionate, dynamic, accountable.
What is the main marketing challenge?
Attracting younger customers without disenfranchising our core base, and halting churn.
Is there a dress code?
It's the dreaded business casual, but what we do is more important than what we wear.
Does the marketing team socialise outside office hours?
You might find the odd BT person in The Paternoster off Newgate Street, London; it has cheap food, well-kept ales and an unpretentious wine list.
What are the hours like?
They are really long when they need to be, but BT has a good grasp of the work-life balance.
Are there any downsides?
Cab drivers asking you to sort out their broadband.
What is BT like for training and career progression?
Career progression is excellent if you are prepared to work hard. If you are good enough, you can pretty much work anywhere in the world across any of the marketing disciplines.
What about the salary and benefits package?
Great. Especially on fringe benefits such as preferential share prices, private medical insurance, subsidised phone and broadband and generous maternity allowances.
Is there anything interesting about the inside of the office?
It is an open and colourful space designed to help our creative chi flow better. We have a lovely view of St Paul's cathedral and a couple of plasma screens showing BBC News 24.
Is there anything else readers may find interesting about working at BT?
More than 15,000 of our employees in the UK work flexibly - either from home, part-time, or job-sharing.
