The research will comprise of a comprehensive survey and in-depth interviews with ISES UK members and the wider industry.

It will take into account a variety of measures that are being considered or implemented by the industry. These range from recruiting temporary skilled staff and setting up new event management companies, to major investment in venues, AV and other event associated equipment.

Crewsaders marketing director James Morgan is leading the research.

"Next year is set to be a incredible year for the events industry, with major events like the Games and the Queen’s Jubilee driving high demand from suppliers, which in turn will create challenges for our industry," he said. "The aim of this research, together with ISES, is to help inform the industry how to face the challenges resulting from bottlenecks in the supply chain and the key actions that can be taken to address this issue."

Royal Aeronautical Society COO and president of ISES, Jonathan Byrne, said the research is in response to concerns from the industry about supply and demand for summer 2012.

"We see it as our role to share best practice amongst our membership to ensure that we all have the information we need to make informed decisions that will guarantee our future success."
