King takes up his role from September 29 and will focus on the IT and telecoms sector, although he also brings knowledge of the retailing and logistics industry.
King previously worked for Synovate as a senior research director responsible for a portfolio of clients and has also held senior positions at Oxford Research Agency, Research International and Maritz.
IQ Research said that King has a "vast technical understanding" of the complexity of these sectors and the business challenges they face, making him ideally placed to design research programmes to meet specific customer needs.
In addition he has worked with a number of organisations in distribution and logistics, both core areas of expertise for IQ Research.
King said: "The role allows me to be free of the usual restrictions of working for a research factory; I have the freedom to deliver intelligent client solutions."
Green said: "Matt has the opportunity to develop his own practice area within the company, providing real commercial value and technical insight to clients within the IT and telecoms industries, drawing on the full range of data collection capabilities of the company."
