She is leaving to join advertising network Omnicom as chief executive of Omnicom Media Group UK, set up to handle its media agencies OMD, PHD, Manning Gottlieb OMD and M2M.
Dent takes up the post on June 4, taking charge as managing director of IPC TX and also taking over Brown's responsibility for content licensing and syndication business IPC+ and direct marketing division IPC Direct.
She has been at IPC since 1992 and was appointed publishing director of Country Life and Horse & Hound in 2003, moving on to Wallpaper in 2006.
Sylvia Auton, chief executive of IPC, said: "I have worked with Fiona for many year and her track record is exemplary."
Auton added she was "truly sad" to lose Brown as a board colleague and wished her all the best with her new role.
IPC has also announced another board change today with digital director Neil Robinson being appointed to the committee. IPC created the digital director role last September, moving Robinson from publishing director for IPC TX.
Auton said: "This appointment underlines our commitment to driving the digital agenda through our business."
