IPA group to host conference on direct marketing

LONDON - The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising is gearing up for its inaugural Get Direct in a Marketing World conference, aimed at highlighting the latest developments and key initiatives in the direct arena.

The half-day symposium, hosted by the institute's direct marketing futures group, will take place at the IPA's Belgrave Square headquarters on Tuesday November 28 from 8.30am to 1pm.

Amanda Phillips, IPA's direct marketing futures group chairwoman and managing director at Proximity London, said: "The symposium will bring together the great and the good from the industry to discuss the hot issues facing DM today; what is the role of direct in the digital age and how can we harness our techniques to create a new future for direct marketing and for brands?"

The event will include presentations from representatives of four leading media, marketing and communications agencies.

Paddy Griffiths, planning director at the Agency Republic, will address the importance of direct marketing as a discipline in the digital world. Griffith explains the convergence of media, data generation, responsiveness and consumer empowerment.

He will be joined by Mark Brown, Weapon 7 managing partner, who will discuss one-on-one communications in broadsheet media, along with Emma Rush, managing partner at Proximity, and Mark Cross, IPA Touchpoints commercial director.

Rush will discuss brand impact as a response using Proximity's TV licensing case study, while Cross introduces the 拢1m IPA-led media research initiative Touchpoints. He explains the importance of analysing multi-channel consumer touch points and their implications for the future of direct marketing.

Tickets for the event cost 拢30 plus VAT for IPA members and 拢50 plus VAT for non-members. Booking forms can be obtained by contacting Adah Parris on 020 72459904 or adah@ipa.co.uk
