Iostar folds following Airey's departure

LONDON - Iostar, the television production start-up that former chief executive Dawn Airey left after just eight days in the post, has gone into liquidation.

The company, whose backers included comedian Stephen Fry, has instructed David Rubin & Partners to commence liquidation proceedings and informed its creditors, it announced today following speculation over its future in the weekend press.

Airey, former managing director of channels at BSkyB, was a high profile signing for the company, but quickly left following concerns over funding and her contract.

In a statement, the company's board of directors said: "[We] have considered a number of options to continue the business according to a revised plan following its funding difficulties and the resignation of its chief executive. However, it has not proved possible to implement such a plan in the time available to the board having regard to the current financial position of the company. Accordingly, the directors have seen no alternative but to take immediate action to place the company into liquidation."
