TWI will conduct market research aimed at boosting television, radio revenue and exposure for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 and the London Olympics 2012 across the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
TWI will explore regional opportunities including free-to-air and pay licences, sponsor-supported highlights and multi-channel delivery. It will also advise the IOC on long-term strategy, the bidding process and legal support services.
The new contract will run until the beginning of 2007.
Bill Sinrich, CEO of TWI, said: "Both TWI and the IOC recognise the benefits of combining the traditions of the Olympic Games with the depth of experience that TWI can offer as the world's largest independent producer and distributor of sports programming."
TWI first started working with the IOC in 1988 as US television consultant for the Calgary and Seoul Olympic Games.
In 1995, TWI set up the Olympic Television Archive Bureau with the IOC to market and sell film and television imagery of the Olympic Games, and to acquire and restore all related TV and film footage.
TWI has also produced Olympic programmes including preview films for Olympic broadcast rights holders, a range of IOC promotional, marketing and technical films, and Olympic Century, the 1994 centennial tribute to the Olympic Movement.
It has also represented Olympic in-flight and video/DVD rights for the Games since Atlanta in 1996.
TWI is the largest independent producer, packager and distributor of sports programming in the world. It is owned by IMG, the sports and lifestyle management and marketing company.
