Each of the birdhouses is more than five feet in size, and they feature one-off designs by British celebrities.

The birdhouses will visit a total of 15 Intu shopping centres, and upon completion of the tour they will be auctioned off, with all proceeds being donated to the RSPB.

The interactive tour is designed to highlight the vulnerability of the UK’s birds and other wildlife, as well as the need to protect them for years to come.

It is estimated that the tour will help the RSPB to reach more than 30 million people, enabling the organisation to raise public awareness of the importance of its latest campaign message, Giving Nature a Home.

The Big Birdhouse Tour will embark on its 16-month national tour at Intu Lakeside in Essex.

The initiative involves the following celebrities:

  • Alex Jones
  • Becky Adlington
  • George Clarke
  • Graham Swift
  • Iwan Thomas
  • Jo Whiley
  • Konnie Huq
  • Miranda Krestovnikoff
  • Naomi Wilkinson
  • Richard Whitehead
