Interpublic in line to win $100m US Postal Service account

NEW YORK - The Interpublic Group of Companies is in line to win the the US Postal Service's $100m (拢64m) advertising, direct marketing and other marketing activity.

The work is set to be won by Interpublic-owned Campbell Ewald, which will handle the advertising, and DraftWorldwide, which will handle the direct marketing and other below-the-line activity.

The resulting creative work is expected to involve mostly direct marketing. Media planning and buying will be handled by Interpublic's Initiative Media.

The agencies will replace incumbents Foote Cone & Belding's FCBi and Frankel, Leo Burnett and MediaCom.

The decision is due to be announced later this week following a pitch involving at least seven agencies, believed to have included Arnold, Boston and Brann Worldwide, as well as incumbents Foote Cone & Belding and Frankel.

The pitch involved reinventing the USPS brand for the millennium and updating its image to help it stave off increasing competition from the internet and private delivery services.
