International Confex preview part two: pick of the seminars

Next week's International Confex (6-8 March) at Excel London will have three different seminar theatres offering more than 45 free educational sessions, not to mention Event's own programme of content at the Haymarket Hub and the Eventia sponsored Best of British Theatre. Here's our pick of what to go to.

Day 1: Tuesday 6 March

Session: Using the media to enhance your event

Time: 10 - 11am

Location: Haymarket Hub (stand B1770)

If you want to learn how to make the most of media opportunities and gain free publicity, head to the Haymarket Hub bright and early on the first day of the show to hear tips from the Event magazine editorial team.

Session: AEO Operations Masterclass: optimising the show floor layout to strengthen the visitor experience

Time: 15.30 - 16.30pm

Location: Organising and Production Theatre

The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) will be hosting three sessions on the afternoon of the first day as part of Association day. This one featuring Jason Popp, vice president of Global Experience Specialists (GES) will demonstrate how video technology can be used to reveal vital information about how visitors interact with your show.

Day 2: Wednesday 7 March

Session: Awards Day: more than just a one-night stand

Time: 10.30 - 11.15am

Location: Organising and Production Theatre

If you’re in the business of organising awards ceremonies then you’ll want to hear from UBM Awards and Partnerships chief executive Caroline Jackson Levy. Event attended one of her sessions last year and left feeling very inspired. In this seminar she will explore ways in which clients can get more value from their awards sponsorship.

Session: Olympic Impact: what happens post summer? Is there still a Christmas?

Time: 16.30 – 17.30pm

Location: Marketing and Agency Theatre

No one is quite sure what kind of legacy the London Games will leave on the event industry. This session will discuss what organisers can expect post Games with experts like Jon Tibbs, owner of JTA, sharing their previous Olympic experiences.

Day 3: Thursday 8 March

Session: Samsung Galaxy S2 launch: the UK’s first Twitter tour

Time: 11.00 - 11.25am

Location: Best of British Theatre

Slice creative director Paul Stanway and strategy director Rob Sellers will showcase how they launched Samsung’s latest handset to a technology-savvy audience.

Session: Olympic WOW: going official or unofficial for your Olympic hospitality

Time: 14.30 - 15.30pm

Location: Business and Corporate Theatre

If you haven’t already booked hospitality for the Games, and are looking to do so, this session will give you an insight into what options are still available. Speakers include Andrew Owen, programme director of Team 2012, Zanine Adams, head of event solutions and UK sales for London & Partners, and Mike Kershaw chairman of the Concerto Group.
