Violent, anarchic and impulsive, Peperami is the ideal character
for an arcade-style, action videogame. Strangely, though, this is a
puzzle-based adventure. As with most videogames there is a dodgy plot.
Essentially the action (or lack of it) involves guiding the Animal
character around a series of 3-D rendered landscapes, interacting with
objects along the way to complete a rather dubious quest. The game has
good points, particularly its overall speed, sound effects and the
animation of the central character, which is so realistic as to be
slightly disturbing. Ultimately, though, you feel the ’interactive’
nature of the experience to be something of a con as you are continually
forced into an obviously linear narrative. The game did promise a 3-D,
Doom-style ’eat ’em up’ which looked promising. I got bored before I
found it.
