LONDON (Brand Republic) - InStyle magazine, the spin-off from Time Inc-owned People magazine, is abandoning plans for an e-commerce venture, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
The magazine had planned to launch the initiative at the beginning of next year, selling fashion accessories online using its own inventory management and distribution system.
However, the plans were scrapped after AOL and Time executives expressed concern over the cost of setting up such a venture. It is also understood that the two companies could not agree on how the venture should be featured on AOL鈥檚 service.
While the Time Warner and AOL merger has not yet been approved, the two companies have been working together closely for some time, and InStyle鈥檚 website, instyle.com, already features on AOL鈥檚 service.
