The Instant Arena has officially opened this week following a rejuvenation project at the listed 1930s building in Clerk Street.

The Art Deco former cinema venue had been closed for ten years despite a campaign from actors including Sir Sean Connery, Brian Cox and Dougray Scott to keep it open.

Although work is still underway to restore the main auditorium into a 600-seat theatre-style venue, parts of the property opened yesterday (4 November).

Spaces already open include the Foyer Bar, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week, and the Gershwin Suite cabaret lounge area.

The Scruples Champagne bar on the first floor has a balcony overlooking Clerk Street.

The project expands the portfolio of Boyle's entertainment business An Instant World, which was incorporated in 2008 with co-founder Robert Innes.
