Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales were behind the two-day City of the Unexpected celebration in , which took place from 17-18 September.
The series of events and perfomances aimed to turn reality on its head, as if Roald Dahl was at the helm of the celebration.
On Saturday, a giant peach rolled through Cardiff city centre, followed by a staged protest group and Mr Fox did a tightrope walk by Cardiff Castle. Buildings in the city's civic centre area were lit up on Saturday night and the giant peach was lifted into the night sky as part of a night time performance.
The Great Pyjama Picnic took place in Bute Park on Sunday where visitors were encouraged to bring Roald Dalh-inspired food and take part in pillow fights. Secret book readings also took place at various locations throughout Cardiff.
