Located at Lancaster House, the embassy will host a programme of global business summits, networking opportunities, seminars and face-to-face meetings for British and international businesses.

In addition, it will spotlight the best of UK creativity, displaying works from some of the UK’s top designers and artists including 2011 Designer of the Year Lee Broom, Paul Smith and Terence Conran.

It will run from the eve of the Olympic Games on 26 July to the end of the Paralympic Games on 9 September and is expected to attract an audience of around 2,000 business leaders, ministers, innovators and opinion formers.

Architect Waugh Thistleton has been commissioned to design and oversee the construction of a temporary timber pavilion in the grounds of the House, which will act as the key function space for the Embassy.

UKTI business ambassador Sir John Sorrell said: "The Games will ensure the eyes of the world are on London – the world’s creative hub. The British Business Embassy will provide an elegant and exciting environment in which international leaders will come to do business, whilst at the same time showcasing the breadth of our creative industries."

Andrew Douglass, CEO of Innovision added: "We are honoured and proud to be working on such an important part of the UK enterprise industry during such a key period. It’s very exciting to be working on something this high-profile and we will relish the challenge of being in the spotlight and working with important stake holders."

The Embassy is part of a wider programme being run by UKTI expected to generate more than £1bn for the UK economy.
