The free festival is open to the general public and will feature entertainment, food and fashion to give visitors a taste of the south-east Asian country’s culture.

Inneventive, which produced Malaysia Cultural Week in London in 2008, said the five-day event will be created around a ‘Faces for 1 Malaysia’ theme.

The week will be officially co-launched by Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, the minister of tourism and culture Malaysia, and the mayor councillor Abdul Mohamed of Southwark and Lambeth. It will include a series of performances, traditional music and craft demonstrations.

Museum artifacts, original Malay manuscripts and heritage items, along with traditional Malaysian games will go on display during the week, and there will also be a promotion of holiday and tour packages to Malaysia at travel booths located on-site.

The event will also include a fashion show including Malaysian batik and songket textiles incorporating both traditional and contemporary designs.
