Informa chief to lead Emap B2B arm

LONDON - Informa chief David Gilbertson has been named as chief executive of Eden Bidco, the Guardian Media Group and Apax joint venture which is to acquire Emap’s B2B publishing arm.

The decision means the current chief executive of Emap’s B2B publishing sector, Derek Carter, will leave after a 30-year career with the company. He will depart on 20 March, the date on which the GMG/Apax acquisition is expected to complete, and will resign from the board of Emap plc on the same day.

Gilbertson is currently chief executive of Informa, the international information, publishing and events business. He has held senior positions with Reuters, Reed Elsevier and LLP Group and was a member of the management buy-out team that acquired LLP from Lloyd’s of London in 1995. He took LLP to flotation on the London Stock Exchange in 1998 and became chief executive of Informa when it was formed following the merger of LLP and IBC in December 1998.

Gilbertson said that Emap’s B2B publishing arm provides a “strong platform” for growth, both organically and through acquisition.
