Williams replaces Steven Barfait, who is vacating the post after five years having built the group from scratch. He plans to launch his own market research company.
Williams set up Blue Chip in 2000 to specialise in research and consultancy for international FMCG clients. Previously, he worked for Procter & Gamble with global responsibility for various business sectors in health and beauty.
In his new role, Williams will also oversee the introduction of more professional workships, networking forums and training opportunities to ensure ICG members keep up to date with industry innovations and hear from market leaders.
He will also be tasked with building the profile and offering of the ICG to appeal to more business users through the organisation's new marketing strategy.
"Our new outward-focused marketing and PR strategy will communicate how the benefits of using an independent consultant can make a bottom line difference to market research buyers, in terms of flexibility and quality services," he said.
Williams is also a member of ESOMAR, the MRS and AQR.
