LONDON - Mother has been appointed to handle the Stella Artois £20m advertising account.

InBev hands £20m Stella Artois account to Mother

The agency won the business after a final two-way pitch against Publicis. Mother recently picked up the launch of Stella's new 4% variant earlier this year with ads focusing on the brands heritage and utilising the strap line ‘La Nouvelle Smooth'.

It is understood that the incumbent Lowe decided not re-pitch for the business.

Separately, InBev has announced that variants Eiken Artois and Peeterman Artois will be phased out from the on-trade by the end of the year and by April 2009 in the off-trade market.

The variant Peetermans Artois was launched in March 2006 with Artois Bock launching in August 2005; both were launched under Brasserie Artois, a family of premium brands that share the Artois brewing heritage. In June of this year however the company announced that Artois Bock would be replaced by Eiken Artois.

The company said that they wish to put all focus into Stella Artois and the variant 4% which launched earlier this year.
