Goldstein joins IGN Entertainment from Catch 22, the social enterprise media business, where he was academy coordinator. Prior to Catch 22, he held account manager roles at Pretty Green and The Marketing Store.

He will report directly to Ian Chambers, UK managing director at IGN Entertainment.

IGN has been ramping up its sales operation since News Corp announced in January that it would be axing staff worldwide at sister website MySpace.

The restructure effectively handed control of IGN sales back to IGN – its portfolio was previously part of the wider MySpace sales operation.

Since the announcement, IGN has been aiming to double the size of its commercial team, hiring a film sales manager, Shivali Ramanandi, from Bauer Media, as well as appointing Michael Hand head of consumer and lifestyle, and Chris Shepperson as head of entertainment.

AskMen, which relaunched in December last year, attracted 835,000 unique visitors in July, according to IGN Entertainment

In News Corp's most recent results, its "other" segment, which includes IGN Entertainment alongside MySpace and its other digital business, made an operating loss in the first three months of 2011 of $165m (£101m).

It is understood that IGN is a profitable business, however, with the losses primarily blamed on lower advertising and search revenues at MySpace, which News Corp recently sold off for $35m to Specific Media and Justin Timberlake.
