Smith's role will also include coordinating council meetings and managing the three IASH sub-committees - auditing, site-vetting and communications.
As senior manager, Smith will report to IASH chairman Richard Sharp, who is managing director of ValueClick, and Guy Phillipson, chief executive of the IAB.
She has worked in various senior roles in the digital industry for 12 years at Associated Newspapers, Harvest Digital, Dennis Interactive and most recently at Nexus Business Media.
In October, News International-owned Fox Networks joined IASH as a full member after passing its initial ABCe audit. IASH said ABCe audits are an important step in ensuring "robust processes" for sales houses. IASH has 22 full members.
Last year, IASH delivered a more stringent code of conduct for members after requests from the industry and the updated code of conduct, version 9.1, will be unveiled this month with more protection for advertisers.
IASH was established in 2005 to promote the benefits of the online ad network business model and to reassure advertisers and agencies about their conduct.
