What does your job involve?
I primarily direct the strategy of the company, ensuring we consistently innovate in a fast-moving industry. In Q4 last year, we were investing in technology; in Q1 this year, I spent a lot of time launching our conversion analytics product and now I'm focusing on expanding our online display and affiliate marketing products.
What's it like working for Latitude?
It's a tight-knit and youthful company with a lot of talent. One of the mantras we ask ourselves is whether we run the company the way we'd tell our clients to do it. It's easy to talk about being nimble and leveraging the power of collaboration, but we like walking the walk. Whether we are on our wiki site (Wikitude), our internal blog (yes, alas, Blogitude), or Yammer, we are always sharing ideas.
What qualifications and experience do you need?
Quite simply, raw talent. We particularly seek curious and analytical minds, creative flair, passion and belief in the power of digital marketing. Our experienced team and growth opportunities can teach you the rest.
How do you spend a typical day?
When it's not raining, I cycle to work. I then start with team meetings and then roll into client, supplier or journalist meetings, depending on the day. In between, I chase teams on special projects or send
messages on my iPhone using Twitter (@alexhoye). There is usually some Diet Coke around to keep me going. Towards the end of the day, I turn up the Spotify jukebox in the office or hit our company local, which is where much of the real strategy comes together.
What's the best thing about your job?
We have a hundred skilled and passionate people, and my job is to ensure we have the best team growing to its full potential and moving in the right direction.
What keeps you awake at night?
Diet Coke.
Who do you aspire to be like?
Michael Birch, Bebo founder. The guy is grounded, gets tech, makes smart strategic decisions, kept at it when initial efforts were mixed and succeeded amazingly in family and business. And he has lots of hair.
