Hyatt's Oscars ad tells the world what it needs right now is new friends

MullenLowe makes the hotel chain's first TV spot in a decade an ode to an international perspective

Hyatt Hotels is running its first TV spot in nearly a decade. The brand campaign makes its TV debut during the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday. The 30-second anthem spot from MullenLowe is of the times, showing strangers around the world moving past their differences to embrace new friendships. Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day provides the soundtrack, a new rendition of the Hal David/Burt Bacharach classic "What the World Needs Now." The global campaign will run throughout 2017, with particular emphasis in the U.S., China and India. A 60-second cut is running online, and the campaign will run on social, out-of-home, in-hotel and print ads.
