Threadgould, who joins this week, had been head of brand plan at M&S  and will be responsible for all UK marketing around the HSBC brand.

She will report to marketing director Philip Mehl, who oversees the HSBC, First Direct and M&S Money brands.

Threadgould’s appointment comes ahead of a tranche of UK-focused HSBC marketing, planned for later this year.

In December, HSBC re-instated Chris Clark to its group head of marketing role, following the departure of Tracy Britton earlier in the
year.

Clark had previously led marketing at the bank, before becoming head of customer experience in early 2009.
