Hotmail links with Outlook in MSN subscription service

LONDON - MSN UK has launched a new subscription service, Outlook Live, so that users of Outlook who have Hotmail accounts can organise email and other information all in one place.

Outlook Live connects to MSN Hotmail so that people can manage their Hotmail-based communications, and costs 拢29.99, using one application to receive email from multiple accounts.

For the fee, subscribers will receive the latest version of Microsoft Outlook; automatic updates when a new version is available; 2GB of online storage; the ability to send 20MB attachments; and spam and virus protection.

The move comes as email is increasingly used by major internet portals as a method of attracting customers and keeping them loyal. Google upped the ante by launching Gmail, with 1GB of free storage, prompting Yahoo! and MSN Hotmail to upgrade the free email services that they offer customers.

Jason Keane, Hotmail business manager at MSN.co.uk, said: "Outlook Live is the most advanced consumer email service available from Microsoft and is perfect for individuals who really want to get the most out of their email.

"MSN is committed to delivering a range of free and subscription email services to meet customer needs, and Outlook Live is the perfect addition to our portfolio."
