Earlier this week, ITV Digital's administrator Deloitte & Touche had refused to make the league a new offer as the 72 clubs of the Football League met in Manchester to decide their next move.
The league is owed £178m by ITV Digital as part of the June 2000 three-year £315m TV rights deal.
On Wednesday, ITV Digital's administrator withdrew its most recent £74m offer, leaving the league chairmen to discuss what course of action they would take next.
It had been feared in some quarters that the withdrawal of that offer would spell the end for ITV Digital, which will be closed next week if a settlement is not reached.
Earlier this week, the administrators issued a statement saying that, while it sought to establish whether the company could be saved, it was preparing the business for sale.
