Honda launches Civic with digital marketing and ad podcast

LONDON - Honda will launch its new Civic with an extensive digital marketing campaign and will make the TV ad for the motor available as a videocast.

The two-minute ad, by agency Wieden & Kennedy London, together with behind-the-scenes footage of the ad development, will be made available as a downloadable videocast from the accompanying Civic campaign microsite, and also from podcast and videocast sites.

The ad shows a specially formed choir vocalising the experiences passengers have when driving the car and includes the line: "This is what a Honda feels like."

The motor company believed it is the first UK company to make an ad available through this channel.

The Civic microsite, created by agency Midas Collective, features an 'expandable' 3D model of the car that lets users get closer to the new Civic. The site also includes a test-drive booking facility that lets users book specific test drive times in dealer diaries. Interactive marketing will support the push.

John Goodbody, web manager at Honda, said: "By engaging in videocasting, Honda is not only strengthening its commitment to reach new markets, it's extending the reach of the Honda Civic marketing campaign. It is enabling people to experience what a Honda feels like from one of their most personal and closest touch points -- their iPod."

The videocast will be optimised for fifth generation Video iPods and will be available for download from January 13.
