Holby City beats Homes from Hell at primetime

BBC One's 'Holby City' won the primetime ratings war last night, luring an audience of 4.375 million between 9pm and 10pm, according to unofficial overnight viewers.

The hospital drama attracted 20% of the overnight TV-viewing audience.

On the second of two consecutive football-free days, ITV1’s ‘Homes from Hell’ was the second-most-watched show between 9pm and 10pm, with an audience of 3.879 million, a 17.7% share of the TV watching audience.

‘Gareth Malone Goes to Glyndebourne’, aired on BBC2, was the third-most-watched programme between 9pm and 10pm, with an average audience of 1.869 million, an 8.5% share of the available audience.

The series tells of the youthful choirmaster's attempt to stage a modern opera with untrained teenagers.

‘The Untold Invasion of Britain’ on Channel 4 was watched by an average of 1.409 million people between 9pm and 10pm.

The Samuel L Jackson thriller ‘Cleaner’, on Five, was watched by 1.397 million people between 9pm and 10.50pm.

‘Big Brother’ was beaten by the news on both ITV1 and BBC One between 10pm and 10.30pm. However, the reality show was still Channel 4’s most-watched programme of the day, with an average audience of 2.234 million across Channel 4 and Channel 4+1.
