Higher volume for direct mail in Q3 says DMIS report

Direct mail continued its upwards climb in Q3 last year, according to the latest figures from DMIS.

Volume was up 5.4 per cent on the same quarter in 2002, with 1.3 billion items sent. Expenditure also rose slightly, reaching £557.3m, up 0.6 per cent on Q3 2002.

Home shopping was the only sector to experience a decrease in volume, although it remained the second largest mailer. It sent out 135 million items in Q3, topped only by the financial services sector, which sent out 241 million items of direct mail.
