Hicklin Slade looks to the future with expanded board

LONDON – Below-the-line agency Hicklin Slade & Partners has reorganised its board, expanding the number of positions from four to nine.

The newly appointed board members are creative directors Malcolm Caldwell and Adam Haywood, group account directors Melissa Gordon and Andy Hunt, and head of data planning Paul Cook.

The four established board members, all partners, are managing director Matthew Brown, CEO Justin Hicklin, planning director Mark Runacus and chairman Nick Horswell, the PHD founder.

According to Hicklin: "During the past six years, we have built a vibrant agency. Succession planning for an independent agency is more difficult than a large network because the personality names above the door tend to dominate. To ensure our future, we have appointed a new board that will retain the culture and personality of the agency."

The agency has 40 staff, revenues of £4.2m and a client list that includes Camelot, Coors, Diageo and Honda.

The agency was recently briefed by Honda to overhaul its customer relationship management strategy to boost loyalty. A welcome pack created by Hicklin Slade is being sent to all new owners from this month, including those who buy second-hand cars from Honda dealerships.
