The digital installation will invite commuters and visitors to the station to make a contribution to Hennessy’s tradition of creativity, by recording their message for the future in a 15-second video or text.

The time barrel will be re-opened in 2065 to reveal the messages for future generations to read.

The concept was devised to celebrate the brand’s 250th anniversary this year, as well as the release of its accompanying Hennessy 250 Collector Blend. It stems from the Hennessy barrel maturation process, which is overseen by the brand’s master blender, Yann Fillioux.

Those who contribute their message for the future will potentially get the opportunity to take part in congac blending workshops, as well as to win bottles of brand’s new 250 Collector Blend.

They will also receive a Hennessy Crusta cocktail for a special price at the nearby St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.

The time barrel forms part of a wider tour involving 11 artists that celebrates the brand's legacy. It has already visited the city of Guangzhou and is set to stop-off at Moscow, New York, Johannesburg and Paris.

Bernard Peillon, chairman and chief executive at Hennessy, said: "Ever since Richard Hennessy founded the Maison in 1765, and throughout the seven generations that followed, Hennessy has forged its reputation by always looking forward, by being engaged with and passionate about the avant-garde, by cultivating deep ties with faraway countries and cultures and by thinking globally before that notion was invented."

The Hennessy virtual time barrel will be situated on the main shopping concourse of St Pancras International. It will be open from 11am every day, and there will be no cost associated with sending a message.
