Based in North Sydney, Haymarket Media already publishes PC Authority, Atomic, FourFourTwo, Limelight, CRN, iTnews, Secure Computing, Jaguar Magazine and Volkswagen Magazine.
Jeremy Vaughan, managing director of Haymarket Media, said, "ProPrint fits perfectly with our expansion plans in Australia and will itself generate more products in its sector.
"It is one of many acquisitions and launches we are working on this year, so expect further announcements both in B2B and the specialist consumer space."
ProPrint joins Haymarket's growing portfolio of print industry titles, which include PrintWeek, Printing World and PrintWeek.com.
The acquisition will compliment PrintWeek's overseas editions in India, Russia, MEA and the Ukraine, and its sister title, Druck & Medien in Germany.
Vaughan said: "Our first issue will be June, which will incorporate the PrintWeek brand values.
"The ProPrint website will also take on a new look with the local online editor able to draw on rich content from our international print portfolio.
"ProPrint's editor, Stephen Crowe, and advertising manager, Carmen Ciappara, will continue with the title as the team prepares to unveil a new design in print and relaunches its website in time for the world's biggest printing expo Drupa 2008, which opens in Germany later this month."
ProPrint was founded in 1991 by Don Elliott, who will take up a position as publishing consultant post-acquisition.
Wayne Manning, publishing director of Haymarket's global print and packaging group, added: "Print and packaging are truly global markets and further coordination of our efforts, editorially and commercially, will reap great rewards when further extending our international footprint."
Haymarket Media is the Australian subsidiary of Haymarket Media Group, the UK's largest private magazine publisher with more than 120 publications and 75 websites worldwide, including Brand Republic.
