Haygarth launches sports marketing arm

LONDON – Integrated agency Haygarth has launched a sports marketing arm, set up by former Manchester United International head Mike Farnan and Jordan Grand Prix marketing director Mike Hall-Taylor.

Haygarth Sports Marketing will focus on extending sports marketing deals with existing clients and winning new clients in the sector.

Another key focus area for the business will be promoting blue-chip clients within China and emerging markets around the world, where Haygarth Sports Marketing already has strong partners.

Prior to Manchester United International, Mike Farnan was chief executive at AC Parma Italy and also has a wealth of experience in Formula 1, working for the Williams and Jordan F1 teams, and at Sky Sports.

Hall-Taylor previously worked as a marketing manager at Gallaher Group, managing the Benson & Hedges and Silk Cut brands, and worked across a wide range of sports sponsorships including cricket, golf and F1.

Haygarth Sports Marketing already works with some high-profile sport properties including Celtic FC, England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, Fifa, golfer Ernie Els, BAR Honda F1 racing driver Jenson Button and England cricketer Kevin Pietersen.

Stephen Morris, Haygarth chief excutive, said: "This is an extremely exciting development for Haygarth -- the team brings outstanding sports marketing expertise to the group, which will benefit both new and existing clients."

Haygarth recently completed a management buyout from its French owner High Co, led by Morris and managing director Sophie Daranyi after High Co, which is 35% owned by the WPP Group, announced it was to refocus its business away from marketing communications and on to other areas of its European business.

Haygarth clients include Dairy Crest, Kerry Foods, Majestic Wine, PepsiCo, Reckitt Benckiser, Signet Group and Sony Pictures Releasing International.
