Annan, now the president of the Global Humanitarian Forum, launched the new campaign at the Cannes Advertising Festival.
Created by the Havas network Euro RSCG, the "tck tck tck: time for climate justice" campaign urges people around the world to join an online petition to push for action on climate change.
The campaign will aim to provoke world leaders into forming a binding deal on climate change at the UN Climate Change Conference in December.
In addition to advertising materials, which are open source and available to any media outlet to use via the new the campaign will feature dogtags for people to wear to support the campaign and free downloads of a specially reworked version of the Midnight Oil track Beds Are Burning.
David Jones, the global chief executive of Havas Worldwide, said: "Our industry excels at changing people’s behaviour – we have not only an opportunity, but an obligation to use our creativity to address some of the biggest issues facing the world, like climate justice."
