The strength of the Euro dampened the group's growth. It claimed the appreciation of the currency negatively impacted revenues by €20m.
Organic growth, using constant exchange rates, stood at 7.4%. Asia-Pacific was the fastest-growing region with a 22.8% increase while Latin America was the slowest with a 4.5% increase. Europe registered 7.9% and North America 6%.
New business during the quarter included MPG taking the £20m Nationwide media account and Euro RSCG winning work for McDonald's and L'Oreal.
Fernando Rodes Vila, chief executive of Havas, said: "Havas reported organic growth for first quarter 2008 in line with expectations.
"This confirms the positive trend observed throughout 2007, underscores the validity of our business model based on integration with digital at the core and reflects our stronger position in key markets."
Havas, headed by chairman Vincent Bollore, said one of the highlights of the quarter was its expansion in the UK through the acquisitions of media agency and branded content and PR agency .
