Hachette strengthens team with strategic marketing role

LONDON - Hachette Filipacchi UK is strengthening its marketing team with the creation of a head of strategic marketing role, which is to be taken by senior marketing manager Liz Settle.

Settle was previously senior marketing manager for Hachette's women's portfolio, working across Elle, Elle Decoration, Red and B magazines.

In her new role, Settle will focus on consumer insight, gathering information on consumer trends for all sectors of the existing Hachette portfolio and will identify un-served customer needs.

Settle joined Hachette in 2003 from Emap Elan, where she was marketing manager for the women's group, which then comprised Elle, Elle Decoration, Red, New Woman, Period Living and Top Sante.

The end of Hachette's publishing joint venture with Emap saw Elle, Elle Decoration and ElleGirl transfer to Hachette Filipacchi in August 2002. A tussle over Red magazine followed.

Simon Bell, Hachette's marketing director, said: "Hachette Filipacchi UK continually strives for a better understanding of changing consumer needs and Liz's considerable experience in this area makes her a valuable asset to the company."

It is understood that Settle will not be directly replaced. IPC's head of marketing for Marie Claire, 19 and In Style will join as head of marketing for Hachette's women's group, overseeing Settle's previous titles -- Elle, Elle Decoration, Red and B. She takes up her position in June.
