Her promotion is part of a commercial restructure that also sees Ann O'Neill become commercial director for the soap titles, Inside Soap and All About Soap. She retains her previous responsibility as classified advertising director.
In a third promotion, Cath Ware moves up from her current position of commercial director to become group commercial director of central sales.
Tony Long, director of sales, said: "The new structure enables us to focus on developing key areas of our business and is an important part of our plans going forward."
The restructure comes as Hachette prepares for its first launch since it set up in the UK in its own right two years ago, following the termination of its joint venture with Emap.
It is planning to launch a monthly women's title called Being, modelled on its French title Pyschologie. It is in a race with NatMag-Rodale, which is readying a similar magazine modelled on Rodale's US title Prevention.
Long arrived at Hachette at the beginning of the year from the National Magazine Company, where he was publisher of Good Housekeeping.
As a result of the departure of Helen Brocklebank and Anna Butlin, Hachette is looking to appoint two new advertising directors. The first is a direct replacement for Butlin on the soap titles and the second is the new position of advertising director for Sugar.
