GWR to see 8% revenue rise as Classic FM performs well

LONDON - GWR Group, owner of radio stations such as Classic FM and Planet Rock, said that it expects revenues from its UK analogue radio operations to be up 8% on last year.

GWR also said that analogue radio revenues would be up by 7% over the three months ending March 31 2004.

The local radio group, which generates approximately 70% of the group's revenues, has forecasted like-for-like revenues to be up 6% over the past quarter. Classic FM is expected to continue the improving trend, rising 13% for the year.

The company has also confirmed that sales of DAB digital radios have achieved target.

GWR, which is headed by chief executive Ralph Bernard, expects to publish its preliminary results for the year ending March 31 on Tuesday May 25.
