Guardian Unlimited has negotiated a groundbreaking WAP advertising
deal with the car rental company Avis.
Andrew Moore, sales executive at the internet network, booked Avis for
the campaign, which broke last week.
Moore brokered the deal with Avis’s interactive agency ZnSpace.
Guardian Unlimited is claiming to be the first media owner to run
advertising across its WAP content.
When accessing Guardian Unlimited content on a WAP phone, users will see
a text ad for Avis. By clicking on this link they will be taken to an
Avis microsite where they can read more about the company’s car rental
deals.
Once there, users can submit their e-mail address if they wish to
receive details of further Avis promotions.
Steve Wing, head of commercial development at Guardian Unlimited, said:
’We are at the forefront of content distribution, and are now available
any time, anywhere, on a number of digital platforms.’
Wing added: ’The Avis deal demonstrates our willingness to respond to
the commercial needs of our clients by offering cross-platform
solutions.’
Guardian Unlimited has distribution deals with Orange, Cellnet and BT
and generates more than 100,000 page impressions a month across its WAP
service.
