Guardian News & Media acquires Kable

LONDON - Guardian News & Media has acquired Kable, a market intelligence, events and publishing business, for an undisclosed sum.

The business will join the Guardian Professional division, which was established last year to focus on B2B revenues, extending GNM's reach into public sector IT procurement.

The division already comprises conferences, sponsorship, supplements, print and digital publications across the education, public services and media markets.

Tim Brooks, managing director of GNM, said that as a leader in an attractive market, Kable offered good prospects for growth. "It is a profitable, well-managed company, and will be a strong fit alongside GNM's existing public sector activities."

Kable managing director Paul Smith added: "The Guardian's position and reach in the public sector, along with its commitment to quality and high customer service values, match exactly the culture and market position that Kable has developed over the past 17 years."

Kable, which was founded in 1990, offers market intelligence and research reports for global information and communication technology businesses operating in the public sector, as well as running events and magazines, including Smart Healthcare magazine.
