Guardian hires Starcom's Adam Foley in new strategic role

Guardian News & Media (GNM) has appointed Adam Foley to the newly created role of commercial strategy director.

From 17 August, Foley will work across both Guardian Labs and Guardian Media to develop and deliver an integrated content strategy.

He will lead strategic and innovative thinking to drive more impactful and effective solutions for clients and attract new business to Guardian News & Media. He will also work closely with the audience insights team to develop effective and engaging content across client projects.

He joins with more than a decade’s experience at Starcom Media Vest Group, where he was most recently managing partner having previously served as head of strategy. 

He will report into Nick Hewat, commercial director of GNM and Anna Watkins, managing director of Guardian Labs.

Hewat said: "Adam has an impressive track record in the industry and has been a leading figure at one of world’s biggest media agencies for more than a decade.  We are thrilled that he is bringing all of that experience and thinking to GNM to help continue driving our commercial strategy forward."
