Schwarzenegger met with the Twitter founders and took a tour of the building. He has nearly one million Twitter followers and is one of a few politicians

There are few politicians who can claim to post videos to video sharing site Vidly and command so many Twitter and Facebook followers. But now The Governator has gone one further.

He has set up a website, , which aims to gather ideas from California residents on how to run the state. People can vote for ideas which go up and down depending on their populairty. It's one of the first times a politician has opened up policy making in such a way.

Earlier this month MP Kerry McCarthy was named the Labour Party's 'Twitter tsar'. Her role is to train MPs on the best use of digital media. On the whole, however, UK politicians have much to do if they want to replicate The Governator's social media efforts.
