Frank Budgen from Gorgeous won the Grand Prix and two Gold Lions for his work on two Nike commercials, "tag" and "shade running", as well as being awarded for Reebok's "sofa".
It is the first time in 10 years a UK company has taken the Palme D'Or.
Although US agencies won more Lions at this year's festival, it was British direction and production that was honoured, with UK agencies taking home almost twice as many Gold Lions as US agencies.
Daniel Kleinman of Spectre once again came close to winning the Grand Prix, with his direction of the Levi's "odyssey" ad for Bartle Bogle Hegarty. Last year he was also close with his "bear" spot for John West, created by Leo Burnett in London.
