
The internet giant has announced its new app for Apple devices will have a voice search service, with features to rival Siri's, allowing users to receive information, such as asking for a weather update.
The new voice search repeats questions and recites answers to search results in a human-sounding voice, in a similar mode to Siri.
It has been available on Android phones for some weeks, as part of the Jellybean operating system, which debuted on the Nexus tablet.
The updated app is expected to roll out to iOS users in the next few days.
Google is also trialling an update to its iOS app, which will integrate Gmail into Google search results, so users will be presented with subjects and contact details based on a search term, on the right-hand side of the results page.
The news comes ahead of the launch of . It emerged recently that Apple would be dropping Google's current YouTube app from iOS 6 and Google would be making a new version of it.
Apple has announced it was ditching Google Maps from the operating service in favour of its own version.
