The pinnacle of is undoubtedly the world-famous five day meeting at the end of July. The mood of the event is relaxed, yet stylish, with linen suits and Panama hats for the gentlemen and soft, flowing dresses for the ladies. It was King Edward VII who described the Festival as ‘a garden party with racing tacked on', and a century later this is still very much the case. Goodwood has managed to preserve the unique blend of social occasion and sporting excellence. This perfect blend makes the event both ‘Glorious' and the ultimate hospitality event, with fabulous hospitality packages available through Keith Prowse.

always starts on a Tuesday and with some excellent racing; the Group 2, Betfair Cup being the highlight of Day 1.

Day 2, and the richest race of the entire season at Goodwood takes place. The Sussex Stakes is a race not to be missed, contested by the best milers in Europe, if not the world. In 2008, Festival goers were entertained to a thrilling finish as Henrythenavigator just managed to get the better of Raven's Pass, who subsequently went on to win the Breeder's Cup in California.

Style and elegance are bywords for Goodwood but it is Thursday, which has become known as "Ladies Day", when everyone pays particular attention to dressing the part. On the course, the Goodwood Cup takes centre stage. First run in 1812, it is one of Goodwood's oldest and most popular races.

As the Festival heads towards its dramatic weekend finale, Friday's feature race, The Richmond Stakes, is one of the most prestigious races for two year olds in the racing calendar. It is a Group 2 race, which was named after the 6th Duke of Richmond who was renowned for his lavish entertaining throughout raceweek, a tradition that has continued at Goodwood to the present day.

The week reaches its climax and the racecourse bears witness to the greatest racing spectacle of the week. The Blue Square Stewards Cup is the proverbial cavalry charge, as 28 horses propel themselves down the six furlong straight of one of the fastest racecourses in Europe, creating a truly incredible sight. Anyone who manages to select the winner should be buying drinks all round! The other feature race is the Group 1, Blue Square Nassau Stakes, now widely acknowledged as one of the best middle distance races for fillies anywhere in Europe and it is entirely appropriate that the week should draw to a close with two such exciting and memorable races.

Whilst luxurious hospitality can always be guaranteed at Goodwood, we recognise that the ability to combine business and pleasure is vitally important. is ideally placed to meet your raceday requirements, with both the historic Goodwood House and the Goodwood Hotel available for additional entertaining, meetings or conferences.
