Located inside a former cinema in the city's San Bablia district, the room will be populated with multiple conical beams of light.

As visitors walk through the 'forest' – which is inspired by Cos' latest collection – a series of beams will change course in response to their movements.

The venue was originally built in the 1930s by Mario Cereghini. It will be decked out with mirrored walls, fog and a soundtrack designed to evoke a forest at twilight.

This is the fifth year that Cos has appeared at Milan Design Week, also known as Salone del Mobile, which is considered to be the world’s largest design fair.

The minimalist fashion brand creates an installation and a temporary concept store in the city each year. Previous partnerships include Nendo’s steel clothing frames in 2014 and Snarkitecture's white fabric tunnel in 2015.

Fujimoto said: "Once, this place was a cinema and adopting the use of spotlight is an idea of homage. The spotlight becomes an interface, which connects fashion, space and forest as a form of architecture."

During Fashion Week, Cos' sister brand H&M into the headquarters of the event's official newspaper, The Daily.
