Global Address offers international multi-language data

LONDON - Data specialist Global Address has launched a new global address tool that offers access to a store of data sets from more than 230 countries and territories in every major language.

The new tool is aimed at business launching global marketing efforts in either business-to-business or business-to-consumer markets.

The Global Datastore allows customers to capture, cleanse and enhance data for every populated country recognised by the International Organisation for Standardisation. It includes a database of information on names, addresses, time zones and geo-code coordinates for more than 230 countries and territories.

Martin Turvey, managing director of Global Address, said: "What we are offering here is very unusual. The full capabilities of the Global Datastore can be maximised in conjunction with our unique software.

"So, for example, not only does our software behave intuitively during the capture process, but it also enables our customers to cleanse and enhance data from multiple countries in a single pass."

Global Address's Unicode capabilities mean it has access to every major alphabet and character set. The Datastore can capture, cleanse and enhance not only Latin-based languages such as English and French, but also languages of the emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Asia. For example, Global Address software can process data in local character sets for Japanese Kanji, Japanese Katakana and Taiwanese.

The data itself is sourced independently from around the world. In almost all cases, individual countries' postal authorities provide the data although additional reference data is made available from other providers.
