GlaxoSmithKline hires MediaCom for media buying

LONDON - Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline has appointed MediaCom UK to its centralised £36m media planning and buying account.

The move follows an eight-week pitch, which also involved Carat, CIA, and Universal McCann.

MediaCom already handled the lion's share of the account.

John Blakemore, director of advertising for consumer healthcare at GSK, said, "This decision made today follows a very thorough review process with four excellent agencies.

"MediaCom UK came up with a great all-round media proposal for our customer and nutritional healthcare businesses in the UK, and we look forward to working closely with the team next year," he said.
