The event, taking place from 9-14 August at Boxpark in Shoreditch, is looking to challenge visitors to re-design, re-invent and re-print a razor handle as they would like it to be. Visitors will be encouraged to come up with new shapes, new forms and new uses; the best looking and most innovative handle design will be displayed in the 'RZR MKR' pop-up store in Boxpark.
The event is seeking to engage the audience in the future of customisation. Product design experts at Gillette have already perfected the razor technology itself. Now they are inviting the public to innovate and to make the product really personal by changing the handle design.
The pop-up aims to bring 3D printing to a wider audience, to inspire and educate the public in order to be more directly involved in the process of customising personal products. It hopes to attract people from all backgrounds, from professional CAD modeler product designers to people with no prior design background but a good understanding of how they would like their personal products to feel in their hands.
A variety of technologies will be showcased for use, from Playdoh and Sugru being 3D scanned, sketching on paper, to drawing a vision directly on an iPad.
Earlier this year, W Hotel hosted while to launch a range of experiential activity.
